Our clients include major producers of petrochemicals, including base chemicals, styrene, polystyrene, and polypropylene, in the USA and worldwide. We can help protect your facility pipelines, chillers, and other plant components from corrosion, as well as maximize uptime and efficiency in bringing your petroleum-based products to market.

Marine

BK Corrosion provides a comprehensive range of corrosion protection supplies, all within the stringent durability requirements of marine applications. The Omega II rectifiers -- in low-voltage, low-current service -- protect the copper components of reverse osmosis water reclamation pumps on ships or rigs. We also provide all corrosion prevention components, including custom rectifiers, impressed anodes, and galvanic anodes for offshore rigs.

Utilities

BK Corrosion provides a comprehensive range of cathodic protection and corrosion prevention equipment for companies in the utilities industry. Our cathodic protection instruments, including underground locators, reference electrodes, holiday detectors, and other test equipment, let you verify performance and troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently. We also offer a complete line of exothermic welding supplies and equipment.

Mining

BK Corrosion is the industry leader in providing the aggregate and mining industries with cathodic protection for your facility piping and other underground metallic structures.

Service Stations

As a gas station owner, it’s essential that you take the necessary precautions to prevent underground tank leaks caused by corrosion. We offer all the necessary materials for cathodic protection of your assets.

Cell Towers

When you need cathodic protection systems for your anchors and below-grade metallic structures, we have you covered. Galvanic anodes are utilized for the majority of systems installed. These systems are fairly inexpensive to extend the life of your towers and the safety of the surrounding area. Please contact us for any CP needs for your towers.

HVAC Systems

In heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, cathodic protection is primarily applied to protect metallic components such as pipelines, condenser coils, chilled water systems, and underground ductwork from corrosion due to exposure to moisture, soil, and as such, CP is a vital method for prolonging the lifespan of HVAC system components. Whether through sacrificial anodes or impressed current systems, CP ensures reliability and efficiency in HVAC infrastructure, reducing maintenance costs and system failures.

Cathodic Protection Cables

The backbone of any Cathodic Protection system are the connections made and maintained through the copper wire. Our direct bury, HMWPE coated copper wire, stands the test of time.

High Molecular Weight Polyethene (HMWPE)

Cathodic Protection Cable - Houston
Cathodic Protection Cable – Houston
Stranded copper conductors conform to ASTM Spec. 8-5, latest edition.

HMWPE insulation conforms to:

  • ASTM B-8 and B-3, latest edition
  • ASTM D-1248, Type I, Class C, Category 5, Grade E-4 and E-5
  • ICEA S61-402, Part 6, paragraph 6.11.4
  • Ratings of 600 volts, 75°C

Application: A direct earth burial, DC feeder cable for use in cathodic protection systems for pipelines, storage tanks, water towers, bridges, railroad tracks, pilings, well casings, cables, marine crane, structures, and other buried or water-submerged metallic structures.

Construction: Annealed, uncoated, stranded copper conductor. Black insulation, surface printed.

Color: Various colors are available on special request basis.

Halar / HMWPE

A direct earth burial DC lead cable for use in deep anode ground bed installations. Designed to withstand corrosive gases in brackish water conditions.

The conductor is stranded bare copper conductor and conforms to ASTM specification B-8. The insulation is a homogenous wall of natural ECTFE floropolymer (Halar®) extruded over the conductor. The jacket is high molecular weight polyethylene conforming to ASTM D-1248, Type I, Class A, Category 5, Grades E4 and E5. Tensile strengths J1, 53. Available with High Density Polyethylene (Type II, III, IV) Class B and C (all colors). Surface printed. Sizes AWG 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.

Different wall thickness of Halar and HMWPE as well as various colors are available on special request basis.

HALAR fluoropolymer offers a unique combination of properties which makes it particularly suited for cathodic-protection lead-wire insulation. It is rugged insulation which has excellent resistance to abrasion, impact, and notch propagation equal to HMWPE and superior to PVF2. Halar has excellent retention of electrical properties in chemical environments. Laboratory and field tests confirm that HALAR fluoropolymer is superior to PVF2 as an electrical insulating material for service in the brackish water environments of deep ground beds.
